October 23 - 24, 2021

The Divine Mercy Congress will take place at Christ the King Parish, 617 N. Arden Blvd., Los Angeles CA 90004 on October 23 and 24, 2021. This year’s Congress’ theme will be: The Year of the Family “Amoris Laetitia”. Family Saves the World.

On March 19, 2021, the Church celebrated the fifth anniversary of the publication of Pope Francis’s apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia, on the beauty and joy of love in the family. On this same day, Pope Francis launched the year “Amoris Laetitia Family,” which will conclude on June 26, 2022, during the X Meeting of Families in Rome with the Holy Father.

Pope Francis announced the year of “Amoris Laetitia Family during his Angelus Message on the Feast of the Holy Family on December 27, 2020. He ended his address invoking the Blessed Mother, “May the Virgin Mary grant that families throughout the world be increasingly fascinated by the evangelical ideal of the Holy Family, so as to become a leaven of [a] new humanity and of a genuine and universal solidarity.”

A short reflection from Fr. George

“While they were all amazed at his every deed, Jesus said to his disciples, “Pay attention to what I am telling you. The Son of Man is to be handed over to men.” But they did not understand this saying; its meaning was hidden from them so that they should not understand it, and they were afraid to ask him about this saying.” (Lk 9:43b-45)

When everything is going very well in our lives, we generally don't allow the thought that it might be bad. And it can't just be only good. There must be suffering and other adversities. They are indispensable in this world. The suffering was necessary in Jesus' life for the redemption of our sins. In our lives, the suffering is essential that our love be cleansed of selfishness and that we do not take root in this world.

May the meaning of suffering cease to be hidden from us, and if it is hidden, let us not be afraid to ask God about it.
