God's silence

To some people, God seems to be silent and distant, others, on the other hand, maintain that they experience God's presence on a regular basis. So, what stands on the way of our communication with God - his indifference or our deafness? How can I talk to God if He does not talk to me? What kind of conversation is this when God does not speak at all and can't be heard? Perhaps you also have these questions. We will certainly not hear God like our friend's voice on a telephone receiver (God will not send us an email to our inbox). So how does God communicate with us?

He speaks to us in a special language, and we are able to hear it. God has equipped us with five different receiving "antennas": mind, will, imagination, feelings and memory. Have you ever thought of something and felt that it was thought of by God? He also stimulates our will when we are to do something special. Thanks to Him, scenes and images appear in our imagination that we would not even think about. God can bring peace or anxiety into our heart. He reminds us of His meekness, heals memories. God also speaks through the Scriptures. Yet the word seems to be such a simple means of communication that it is hard to believe that God was using it. He speaks through text, but we will not hear Him if we do not want to. We have to create conditions for this: silence, time, loneliness, attention. God is not the first fellow in a row - He takes us seriously.

By slowly reading in and meditating on the sacred text, we will develop an inner cling to the word or sentence. If we feel "touched" by this word, at the same moment it becomes the voice speaking to us. Then we can say, "God has spoken to me." Do not think to yourself that true prayer is having extraordinary experiences that are reserved only to some people. Christian prayer is much simpler and therefore paradoxically more difficult. So, try to risk one, two, maybe more time, and God will become closer to you.

Until Tomorrow
