Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life - Jn 3:31-36

Today, Gospel invites us to stop to be "earthly" people who talk only about the things of the world, and to speak and act as "he who comes from above" (cf. Jn 3:31), that is, like Jesus. In the todays’ gospel, we see once again that there is no room for compromise in evangelical radicalism. It is important that we try to think God's way over and over again. We should strive to have the same feelings as Christ and look at people and circumstances with the gaze of the Word made flesh. By acting like the "one comes from above ", we will discover a whole lot of positive things that are happening around us, because God's love is a constant work for the benefit of man. If we come from above, we will love all people without exception, and our lives will become an invitation to others to do the same.

"The one who comes from heaven is above all" (cf. Jn 3:31), and therefore can help every man and woman with their specific needs; moreover, "He testifies to what he has seen and heard" (cf. Jn 3:32), and his service is disinterested. Such an attitude of service - without expecting anything in return, without the need for an answer on the other part - creates an atmosphere that is deeply human, respectful of the free will of every human being. This type of conduct is imparted to others who feel moved to respond voluntarily and do likewise.

Service and testimony always go hand in hand and mutually confirm each other. Our world seeks authenticity, and what is more true than God's Word? What is more authentic than the one who " does not ration his gift of the Spirit." (cf. Jn 3:34)? That is why " Whoever does accept his testimony certifies that God is trustworthy"

(cf. Jn 3:33).

To "believe in the Son" is to have eternal life. This means that the believer is no longer burdened with Judgment Day, as he has already been judged with a favorable verdict. " But whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains upon him" (cf. Jn 3:36) ... until he believes.

To Jesus, and only to Him, the Eternal Father entrusted all his creation, " the Father loves the Son and has given everything over to him". Only in the light of this truth about Jesus, the words of today's Gospel take their proper meaning, which are undoubtedly not a threat, but the words of God's love: " Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever disobeys the Son will not see life" (cf. Jn 3: 36)

Until Tomorrow
