The most important question – Jn 21:1-19

Here is the testimony of someone who not only confessed love to another, but even swore it. And yet, when the time has come to prove the word by deed, deny thrice, not even mentioning love, even knowing the One for whom professed this love. So, when the betrayed Man asked him - do you love me, Peter, because here we talk about him – respond - yes, and immediately adds - Lord, you know, you know everything, so you know that I love you. Do those to whom we profess our friendship or love, whether they know, that is, whether they are convinced of the truthfulness of our loving and friendly words. Knowing that someone loves us does not mean knowing the words in which we are made aware of it. Knowing that someone loves us is the same as love someone. It is worth to nothing that in the Bible the word "know" means the same as love.

So, speaking of love for God, we need Peter's reserve. You know that I rely more on you than on myself, that I believe your love more than mine. To come to this wisdom, however, it was first necessary to weep bitterly. After the betrayal.

In the place of Peter's confession of love on the Sea of Galilee, there are stones in the form of a heart. They are not only a reminder of what once happened. They resemble Jesus' question addressed to each of us: Do you love me?

Until Tomorrow
