The Greatest Gift

The greatest gift of the Risen Lord for believers is the Holy Spirit. He gave birth to the Church under the cross and in the Upper Room. He turned the frightened and withdrawn Apostles into brave and steadfast preachers of the Gospel and witnesses ready to pay with their own lives for the truth they preach. Holy Spirit makes us today partakers of Jesus' mission, people of mission. He forgives us our sins and heals our wounded hearts. He is the source of love in our hearts! We are also invited to leave the Upper Room, go everywhere and testify of the love we have received from the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

In his homily on June 2, 1979 in Warsaw Saint John Paul II Said: “And I cry—I who am a Son of the land of Poland and who am also Pope John Paul II—I cry from all the depths of this Millennium, I cry on the vigil of Pentecost: Let your Spirit descend. Let your Spirit descend and renew the face of the earth, the face of this land.” Come, Holy Spirit, and change my heart according to the will of the Father and the desires of Jesus.
