We are on the way to Jerusalem

They approach, they constantly approach Christ, mortals overwhelmed with their lives, with their hearts like a list of demands to God. Unsure of His love, which we do not know what it is, since it seems not to fulfill a large number of the prayers made to Him. And yet everyone has a right to be well, that life would not hurt him too much, not suffer too much inconvenience and suffering.

And now is Lent: the expression of torment on the face of the Crucified becomes acute. Blood flows from the wounds on the body and for centuries combines with the blood that rushes restlessly in human veins, our veins. His redeeming blood seeks unity with the blood of the sad and overworked, homeless and wealthy, haunted and confident. The blood of mercy, the blood shed for other people's sins - how different it is from the blood tearing in us, who would not want someone to spoil it.

Now IS Lent. A time of penance that can teach us to give up small things and what is rightfully due to us. Because why should we still deserve something? From God and people? How about standing on the path of our life with open arms, asking each passing person: "Howcan I help you?" For why should this evangelical sacrifice die together with Mother Teresa?

And after some time serving, we will discover, we will discover that the people around us (our daily competitors to earthly privileges) are heading, as we do, towards Jerusalem, towards Golgotha, and towards the great amazement of the Resurrection. Perhaps this discovery will become the treasury of our faith.

Until Tomorrow
