Be like people awaiting their Master

So: he will come. How do I find time to prepare for it? Compulsion, distraction, confusion: the noisy little worlds as we are, is to be visited by God. We want it to happen, and without admitting it too often to ourselves, we secretly hope that Christ will visit us.

What to do now, while Lent is in progress and our responsibilities are not gone? Our pursuit of time continues, days like others flow, they flow like sand flowing between human fingers. Can we only offer this constant rush of life to the Coming One? Or perhaps from the passing moments, from long forgotten events, He emerges like a glow from fire: our holy longing for Him and the vigilance that accompanied every prayer, every Love that enriched our fate.

"We only have one day of life to save souls; the next day will be eternity" (St. Teresa of theChild Jesus). Today we are transformed into the waiting servant, whose gaze penetrates beyond the veil of mortality, whose ears clearly hear the Word of God in the midst of thescream of the world.

Do we believe in such an expectation? Are we not too afraid that we will not have enough strength for them? Yes, we are clay vessels in which He keeps a treasure. Let us only plunge into the imploring silence of the heart, and thepower of waiting will come upon us ...

Until Tomorrow
